Degrees from distance learning programs and a common degree program have the same worth, if the institute is certified and approved by the board of education. So before you join a distance degree program, you should verify that the school you have chosen is certified.

You will not find distance learning courses in a few fields such as medicine and surgery because they need lab work. In other courses, you will always find a distance learning program.
