« Computer Training - Microsoft MCSE in 2009   Choosing The Right MCSA Course For You 2009 »

by Jason Kendall

We all have busy lives, and generally should we have cause to learn a new profession, studying at the same time as holding down a job is what we have to do. Training tracks certified by Microsoft can fill that gap. Additionally you might want to talk in detail on the types of jobs that are available when you’ve finished studying, and which personalities such positions may be appropriate for. Most students feel happier if they can be advised on what would suit them individually. Once you’ve decided on the area you want to get into, you’ll need a suitable training program matched to your ability level and skill set. Your study program ought to be of an excellent standard.

Being aware of so much discussion around computing technology right now, how do we know what precisely to look for?

It’s important to understand: the actual training or a qualification isn’t what this is about; the job or career that you’re getting the training for is. Far too many training organisations completely prioritise the actual accreditation. Students often train for a single year but end up doing a job for a lifetime. Don’t make the error of finding what seems like an ‘interesting’ course and then put 10-20 years into a job you hate!

Make sure you investigate what your attitude is towards career progression and earning potential, and if you’re ambitious or not. You need to know what the role will demand of you, which exams will be required and in what way you can develop commercial experience. Seek out help from a skilled advisor that appreciates the market you’re interested in, and who can offer ‘A typical day in the life of’ synopsis of what duties you’ll be performing on a day-to-day basis. It just makes sense to understand whether or not this is right for you well before you jump into the study-program. What’s the reason in starting to train and then find you’ve gone the wrong way entirely.

Those that are drawn to this type of work can be very practical by nature, and don’t really enjoy classrooms, and endless reading of dry academic textbooks. If this could be you, try the newer style of interactive study, where learning is video-based. Memory is vastly improved when multiple senses are involved - this has been an accepted fact in expert circles for as long as we can remember.

Courses are now available in the form of CD and DVD ROM’s, where your computer becomes the centre of your learning. Through video streaming, you are able to see your instructors showing you how something is done, and then have a go at it yourself - in an interactive lab. Don’t take any chances and look at some of the typical study materials provided before you purchase a course. Always insist on instructor-led video demonstrations and interactive audio-visual sections with practice modules.

Avoiding training that is delivered purely online is generally a good idea. Ideally, you should opt for CD and DVD ROM courseware where offered, so that you have access at all times - you don’t want to be reliant on your internet connection always being ‘up’ and available.

If you forget everything else - then just remember this: It’s essential to obtain proper 24×7 round-the-clock professional support from mentors and instructors. You’ll severely regret it if you let this one slide. You’ll be waiting ages for an answer with email based support, and telephone support is usually to a call-centre which will take the information and email an instructor - who’ll call back sometime over the next 1-3 days, when it’s convenient to them. This isn’t a lot of good if you’re sitting there confused over an issue and can only study at specific times.

Top training companies utilise several support facilities across multiple time-zones. By utilising an interactive interface to link them all seamlessly, at any time you choose, there is always help at hand, without any problems or delays. Look for a trainer that is worth purchasing from. Because only round-the-clock 24×7 support truly delivers for technical programs.

‘In-Centre’ days can be portrayed as a great feature by a lot of training companies. After talking to most computer industry trainees that have tried them out, you’ll likely realise that they’ve now become a waste of time due to many reasons:

* Constant visits to the workshops - often hundreds of miles.

* Workshop access; often weekdays only and two or three days in a row. This can be difficult to get the work-leave.

* Holiday days lost - most IT hopefuls only get 4 weeks annual leave. If half or more of that is used up by study workshops, you haven’t got a great deal of holiday time remaining for the family as a whole.

* In a situation where running costs are very high, many trainers really push the size of the class - which is not ideal (increasing the ratio of students to teachers).

* Some trainees want to progress quickly, while others are looking to take a more ’steady’ pace and not be forced to adopt an uncomfortable speed for them. This generates tension and unrest a lot of the time.

* Soaring travel costs - driving to the training centre and of course bed and breakfast for the night can really add up each time you attend. If we just assume five to ten workshops costing around 35 pounds for a single over-night room, plus a petrol cost of 40 pounds and 15 pounds for food, we find an extra four to nine hundred pounds of costs that we weren’t expecting.

* Most attendees want to keep their training private to avoid any kind of questions in their job.

* Every one of us must, at some time, have avoided asking a question, because we wanted to maintain the illusion that we did, in fact, understand?

* More often than not, days in-centre frequently become pretty much undoable, where you live or work away from home for part of the week.

It obviously makes more sense to be trained at a time that’s convenient for you - not the school - and employ virtual lab environments with videos of your instructors. Think… With a laptop you can learn in any location you choose. And live 24×7 support is an online click away if you hit challenges. You have the ability to do the modules whenever you need to. There’s absolutely no need to take notes because you’ll always have access to the teaching. What could be simpler: No travelling, wasted time or money; and you get a much more relaxed study atmosphere.

At times individuals don’t understand what information technology means. It’s stimulating, innovative, and means you’re working on technology that will change our world over the next few decades. We’re only just starting to see just how technology will define our world. Computers and the Internet will significantly transform the way we see and interrelate with the rest of the world over the coming years.

If making decent money is around the top on your scale of wants, then you will be happy to know that the income on average for a typical IT worker is a lot more than salaries in other market sectors. With the IT marketplace developing at an unprecedented rate, it’s likely that the requirement for qualified professionals will continue actively for quite some time to come.

Wed design companies helped to combat recession In this time of recession different corporations that operate in a trans-continental basis, are facing numerous challenges. Actually, the recession has a strong impact on businesses. And online presentation of products and services have taken a new shape altogether. The web design companies and the web designers are now facing immense challenges as these companies want the online selling process to take acceleration. It was indeed difficult to face the sudden business requirement of the businesses but the skilled web designers have come up with effective solutions that have made the online presence or electronic commercial system almost at the same level as it was even before the recession. The story seems heartening for the corporate and the business that seek electronic presence. It is also interesting to have an overview of the processes that the website designers and the companies that have undergone. There are plenty of web designing companies in Australia and especially in busy and commercial city of Sydney, there are web design companies that propose innovative ideas. The companies not only emphasized on look and feel but also thoroughly changed the approaches with better link exchange, better usage of technologies and better layout and designs. Beside all these, rich web content and crisp language of presentation within the sites are worth mentioning. There are different web design companies that do not bother in making the sites pixel perfect, this has been a major flaw that prevailed and this was supplemented successfully. More stress has been provided on image optimization. Keyword optimization has been also revised. For better look and feel, the competitor sites are now referred and then a better navigability and site design is proposed. These changes in the web design tactics have yielded enhanced results. The graphic design and the illustration matters a lot and the Sydney based web design companies recruit and employ expert designers from different universities located in the Southern Cross regions. The fresher designers who come from the TAFE colleges have fresh ideas and these ideas were indeed used for combating the market during recession. In Asia Pacific, different businesses mostly seek solutions from the Australian website design companies as these companies have been pioneer in web site development and design. It is a fact that Australia has been a frontrunner in implementation of electronic commerce across the country. The way of creation of digital environments for better business activities is indeed a work of challenge. The reputed web design companies maintain standards and they have global certifications for being adherent to standardized delivery quality. These companies often offer free online quotes and before choosing a service provider it is advisable to have a few quotes for comparative analysis. Still, while selecting a reputed company comparison is not necessary. Website designers are now much more professional and their levels of skills have helped the online market to remain steadier. The web designers maintain a constant up gradation of knowledge and expertise to fare well and contribute in delivering business solutions.

Give Excelsior College a try. I'm a 2008 graduate and have been very impressed by the experience. They offer monthly payment plans and other financial aid.

Find out more from their website and I would strongly encourage you to contact them directly to get more detailed advice. They are very helpful and not at all pushy.

If you want to know what it was like studying at Excelsior, email me. I'm happy to answer all questions you might have.

    Hope this helps.

My friend opened a LAN center 2 years ago, and the business has struggled pretty much the whole time. I agree with almost everything you said, and this place actually satisfies all your req’s, so here’s what I think is going wrong: *1. **Get a partner/hire front desk staff** Make sure you can get someone on board with you, or hire someone to handle customers while you manage the business. It is impossible to get work done with people constantly bothering you to buy time, snacks etc. *2. **MARKETING** Market, heavily. Advertise in yellow pages, online and even on craigslist, IRC, pamphlets at schools/colleges, target parties rather than competitions, target casual gamers or MMO/RTS players rather than FPS gamers (who bitch about EVERYTHING and then never come back, although this is just from personal experience). *3. **Get a woman to work for you** I don’t know why this helps but it does. Get a hot girl to work for you. Pay her more if you have to. It’s a no-brainer. *4. **Don’t put up with the weirdo customers or they will fuck with the other customers** If you open a LAN center, you get fucking weirdos coming in. ALL THE TIME. Do not let them fuck with the other customers, and if they are just generally weird or smelly, kick them out. Don’t feel bad about it, just do it. It’s a business decision. *5. **Offer limited time pricing specials** Pretty self explanatory. You get boosts when it’s cheap, and getting people in is what makes them come back. Student pricing/group pricing/weekday vs weekend pricing all works. *6. **Don’t approach this like a gamer** Know what gamers want, but not everyone is you, or your friends. It might seem obvious, but don’t just optimize the center for a certain style of gaming (for us it was very FPS heavy, but FPS gamers are useless mostly and didn’t provide regular revenue). This is a business. Look for what is going to make you the most money, rather than what would give you the most geek cred or be the most fun. People who spend money regularly at LANs are often casual gamers or people without a nice computer. This might all be different for you, but that’s just my experience.
