What would you do if you found yourself with an extra hour a day? Would you get a jump on the next day’s projects? Would you use it to work on that never-ending honey-do list? Would you use that extra hour to ensure you would have an extra hour every day to make yourself invaluable to your employer, your spouse, or your community?

Even if you are a stay-at-home mom or a CEO, chances are if you are “at least at certain times during the year” required to do extensive reading for your job. Quarterly reports or the latest parenting blogs and books can range from two pages to two hundred, and that can take some time to read especially when you are supposed to be keeping up on what the competitors are doing, or you only have naptime to yourself and want to take full advantage.

Good for you! By landing here we guess you must be considering re-training to work in a different industry - that puts you way ahead of the crowd. Only one in ten of us are content with our jobs, but most complain but just stay there. Why not be one of a small number who make a difference in their lives.

We’d strongly advise that prior to beginning a course of training, you chat with an expert who can see the bigger picture and can make recommendations. They can assess your personality and help you sort out a role to fit you:

* Is working with other people your thing? Do you like to deal with the public? Or are you better with things that you can get on with on your own?

Should you be looking for Cisco training but you’ve no working knowledge of routers, then the course you should go for is a CCNA. This course is designed to teach students with a commercial knowledge of routers. Big organisations that have a number of branches need routers to join up their networks in different buildings to allow their networks to keep in touch. The Internet also is made up of hundreds of thousands of routers.

Achieving this qualification means you’ll probably end up working for large companies that have several different sites, but need their computer networks to talk to each other. Alternatively, you may find yourself employed by internet service providers. These jobs are well paid and in demand.

As you’ve arrived here it’s possible that either you want to get into networking and an MCSE certificate appeals to you, or you are a knowledgeable person and you’ve realised that you need a qualification such as MCSE.

When researching training colleges, avoid any who reduce their out-goings by not providing the most up-to-date Microsoft version. Overall, this will cost the student a lot more due to the fact that they’ve been educated in an out-of-date syllabus which inevitably will have to be up-dated almost immediately. Don’t use training companies that are simply out to sell something. Advisors should be helping to ensure you’re registering on the correct course. Don’t allow yourself to be sold their standard course by a second-rate college.

Netbooks are seen almost everywhere nowadays. It’s as if this little laptop has just popped out of nowhere and became the star among students overnight.

What is a netbook actually?

Netbook is the smaller version of a laptop, typically built with a 10-inch screen or smaller. Most of these computers run Windows or Linux and usually priced below $500. It was originally built so people will be connected to the Internet wherever they maybe.

First introduced by Asustek when it launched the first Eee PC in the fall of 2007. But it was only in the last year when we saw the explosive growth of these so-called mini-laptops. Now we have many computer companies such as HP, Dell, Lenovo… all jumping on this craze for a small portable laptop. So much so, that netbooks now is the fastest growing segment of the laptop industry and is expected to reach 139 million units by 2013.
