Acting seems to be one of the things many people would like to do. It can certainly be rewarding, but it’s probably one of the hardest areas of the film industry to break into.

If film and TV are your dream job, there are plenty of other areas you can get into. You could consider directing, producing or even writing scripts, and choosing the right film school is one of the most important decisions you’ll make.

The first step along the road to the film industry is to choose the type of career you’re going to pursue. Almost any job in film pays well so you’ll need to prepare yourself to be up against plenty of competition. Also keep in mind that you’ll probably have to start at the bottom, usually as a PA or production assistant doing things like answering the phone and getting coffee.
